I hope I can write this without seeming patronizing. I watched this man throwing this cast net for a while as I was walking up Clearwater Beach toward him. I couldn't help but think, as I watched him throwing that net, that I hope I can still get around that well when I am his age. Yes, in truth, I have no idea how old he is. But I can hope to be that mobile when I get to be the age that I THINK he is. I don't know if you can tell it from here, but he was pretty darn good at throwing that net.
And if I may be so bold... I think this man makes a good 'poster child' for retirement here in the Clearwater Beach area. When you have the time to enjoy it, the beach is a wonderful place to wile away the days. If you get active like this man, all the better. What a great way to enjoy the freedom of time once you have worked so many years to earn it. Not to sound too much like a commercial, Clearwater and Clearwater Beach really do seem to me to be good places to consider if you want to enjoy an active retirement lifestyle.
I had a cast net when I was young. The method for casting it that I was taught involved holding one of the weights in my teeth. I can tell you, I almost lost some teeth on more than one occasion. If you don't get it right, and let go of that weight at the right moment, it gets ripped out of your mouth with no respect for any work your dentist has done in there!
