Clearwater Beach, Florida: Spyglass Hotel, Construction Cranes
This is the Spyglass Motel on Clearwater Beach. Rumor has it, it is scheduled to be demolished. Some would say that is a good thing. Some say the place is just not what it used to be anymore. That may be the case. But in my mind, it has always been somewhat of a landmark, with it's Hot Air Balloon mural, and the man leaning out of it, with a spyglass!

If you consider the size of the building, and of the nearby cranes, you can tell that it's a big, BIG mural. Pretty cool. I'm glad I got this picture of it. I will be down on the beach again soon, and I am not sure it will still be there!

You may ask, where are all the other tall hotels that used to stand nearby? Well, quite a few hotels down on the beach have already been demolished. There is a major renovation going on, covering the whole South Beach area, almost. Many hotels are being replace or renovated. The centerpiece of it all is the City of Clearwater project called Beach Walk. Overall, they are calling this 'renaissance' the Billion Dollar Beach.
